Dimitra is an incoming Assistant Professor at the Department of Management Science and Technology at the Athens University of Economics and Business. She is also a Research Fellow in the Electricity Research Programme at Oxford Institute for Energy Studies (OIES) and a Lecturer at Christ Church College, University of Oxford, working on economics and regulation of the electricity sector. She is a member of the Oxford Energy Policy Club and an Honorary Visiting Fellow at City St George’s, University of London (previously City, University of London). She obtained her PhD and MSc from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2014 and 2011, respectively. Before joining OIES, she was a Lecturer at City St George’s, University of London. She was also the Programme Director for the MSc in Renewable Energy and Power Systems Management; a member of the Energy, Sustainability and Net-Zero Research Centre and the Artificial Intelligence Research Centre, both at City, University of London. Prior to her tenure at City, Dimitra was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Oxford. Her diverse experience extends to the industry as well; she previously worked at the Smart Grid & Technology Department at Commonwealth Edison (ComEd) in Chicago, Illinois. She has been actively participating in working groups and other professional service activities, such as being Co-organiser of Risk and Resilience Day 2023, EPSRC Supergen Energy Networks Hub and has been invited to give seminars at various places, such as Imperial College London and King’s College London, UK; Argonne National Laboratory, US; and MINES ParisTech, France.

Pandelis Biskas is a Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He is considered an expert in power systems modelling and in the modelling of European electricity markets. His deep knowledge of the European electricity markets’ operation in both regulatory framework and in daily operation has provided him a key role in the Greek wholesale electricity market, where he is widely known for unit commitment and economic dispatch applications. His research interests expand in optimization models for electricity market clearing and assets’ bidding strategies.

He worked for 4.5 years as a Business Development Engineer in the Electricity Market Department of the Hellenic Transmission System Operator, in which the daily business of the Greek wholesale electricity market was performed (Capacity rights auctions, scheduling of imports/exports, Day-Ahead Scheduling, Dispatching Scheduling of production units). During this period, he participated in working groups for the harmonization of HTSO with the provisions of the “Greek Grid and Exchange Code”, in commissions for the “Mathematical Formulation of the Day-Ahead Scheduling problem”, and in groups for the harmonization of the market rules in the Central-South European (CSE) Region (including Italy, France, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia and Greece). He was the delegate of HTSO for the development of the Day-Ahead Scheduling solver (in the cooperation with AREVA T&D), which is still applied for the clearing of the day-ahead market in Greece.

As a member of the PSL/AUTH, through the Research Committee of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, he led (as a Principal Investigator) 80 projects and participated (as a Researcher/Consultant) in another 40 projects funded by Greek and international institutions, energy associations, energy companies, etc, during the last fifteen years. As an Electrical Engineer, he has undertaken and implemented more than 350 projects for power system operations and analysis, energy studies, risk management analysis in the production, trading and retail sector, price forecasting, consulting services on wholesale and retail electricity markets, etc. Professor Pandelis Biskas, as a senior market analyst of ECCO International Inc. (an internationally known company, providing consulting services to Governments, Regulators, Utilities, Independent System Operators, with registered address in California, USA), has participated in more than 50 projects in the field of wholesale electricity market design, algorithm modelling and market simulation in Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Poland and Israel during the last 17 years.

Pantelis Capros is Professor Emeritus in Energy Economics and Operations Research at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). He is the founder of the E3MLab, a research group modelling the interactions between energy, economy, and environment. His world-renowned models PRIMES, PRIMES-TREMOVE, Prometheus, and GEM-E3 have been widely applied in impact assessment studies conducted by the European Commission and employed by various governments and utility organisations.

Professor Capros has an engineering degree from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), three MSc degrees in Economics, Computer Science, and Operations Research, and a PhD in Mathematical Economics. He has authored several scholarly books and published over 200 scientific papers.
Prof. Capros was the first Chairman of the Regulatory Authority for Energy in Greece, a member of the Board of Directors of the Public Power Corporation for several years, and a Professor at the University of Paris I Sorbonne until 2000. Additionally, he assumed the role of interim Minister of Energy and Environment in Greece from May to June 2023. He is currently the President of E3Modelling SA, part of the WSP group.

Dionysis Chionis is the co-founder of Athlos Energy, the first Greek company active in the field of nuclear energy. Athlos Energy aims to prepare and deliver the first nuclear project in Greece. He has many years of experience in the Swiss nuclear industry and holds a PhD in Nuclear Physics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL). In addition, he holds a Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ) and a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens.

Ambassador Michael B. CHRISTIDES joined the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1976 as first in his Class and served with distinction until his retirement in September 2014. Among other assignments he served as Ambassador of Greece to Bulgaria, to Turkiye and to Argentina and held senior posts in the Hellenic MFA.
He spent more than 20 years dealing with S.E. European / Balkan issues, while travelling extensively in the region. He acquired a broad knowledge of the political and economic realities there and established a wide personal network of high-level contacts.

Following his retirement, he was elected as Secretary General of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) organization, assuming his duties in July 2015. A cum laude graduate of Athens College, Leo Drollas attended the London School of Economics where he gained his B.Sc. (Econ) and M.Sc. (Econ), also completing a doctorate on the foreign trade sector in disequilibrium.  After leaving the LSE in 1975, Leo Drollas worked in London at the Commodities Research Unit and then joined British Petroleum in 1977 as the company’s first econometrician.  At BP he managed the energy and economic modelling team in the company’s Corporate Planning Department (1980-86) and was responsible for many studies on various aspects of the oil market.  Whilst at BP, Leo Drollas was seconded for two years to the Confederation of British Industry (1986-88), where he held the post of Deputy Director of Economics.  In 1989 Leo Drollas joined as its Chief Economist the Centre for Global Energy Studies (CGES), a think-tank founded in that year by Sheikh Yamani, the former Oil Minister of Saudi Arabia.  Leo Drollas was the Deputy Director and Chief Economist at the CGES from 1989 until 2011, becoming in that year the CGES’ Director.  During his time at the CGES, which ceased operations in April 2014, Leo dealt with many diverse subjects in the oil and gas sphere.  Over a career spanning 48 years, Leo Drollas has written many articles and studies on oil, energy and economics in general, and co-authored “Oil – the Devil’s Gold” with Jon Greenman.  He has spoken at numerous conferences all over the world and has appeared frequently on TV and radio programmes and been quoted regularly on the main wire services and leading financial newspapers.  Leo Drollas is a non-executive director of Elin, a Greek energy company, and an adviser to Argus Consulting, writing monthly on the crude oil futures market.

Currently CEO of e-CNHC (E-C Cyprus Natural Hydrocarbons Company Ltd), providing management and advisory services in the oil & gas and energy sectors in Cyprus and the region. He has 36 years of experience in the energy sector, starting as an Operations Engineer at the Kardia Power Plant of the Production Directorate of the Public Power Corporation (PPC), and later at the Energy Control Centers of the Transmission Directorate of PPC.

Since the liberalization of the Electricity Market in 2001, he joined the personnel of the Hellenic Transmission System Operator (HTSO). From 2001 to 2012, he successively held positions from Supervisor to Director of the Operation Control Directorate of HTSO, being responsible for the System Operation Security while implementing actions according to the European directives and regulations for the liberalization of the Electricity Market. He managed significant crises in the Transmission System (handling high summer loads during the period 2005-2009, natural gas shortages in 2008 & 2012).

From 2012 to 2015, with the establishment of the Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO), he continued as a Director in the same Directorate. During the period 2015-2021, he successively served as Director in the Directorates of Strategy & System Planning, and Asset Management at IPTO.

Christos Konstas is a Mechanical Engineer, graduate of the Technical University of Ilmenau (TU Ilmenau, Germany), specializing in Metrology, and a PhD candidate at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). He currently serves as Executive Secretary of the Hellenic Solar Industry Association (EBHE) and Research Associate at NTUA, participating in national and European research projects.

He has more than twenty years of professional experience in the energy sector. For a decade, he served at the Laboratory of Solar and Other Energy Systems of the National Centre for Scientific Research "Demokritos", where he developed extensive expertise in renewable energy technologies, solar thermal systems, energy metrology and energy efficiency.

Panagiotis Ladakakos is President of the Hellenic Wind Energy Association (HWEA) and Managing Director in companies of the ENTEKA Group. He leads the natural gas business unit of Motor Oil Hellas. He has over 27 years of extensive experience including oil refining, field operations, Project Development in USA and Italy with Chevron and Foster Wheeler respectively, strategic planning and new business development.

In the natural gas field he has been involved since 2004 from the initial connection agreement of Motor Oil Hellas Refinery with the natural gas grid and followed all the steps of the liberalization of the market since the emblematic import of the 1st private LNG cargo in 2010. Currently, he is developing a strategic project for the security of supply and the competitiveness of the natural gas market in Greece and South East Europe, namely “DIORYGA GAS” a Floating Storage & Regasification Unit.

Nikolaos Sofianos worked for IENE for ten years (2007 - 2017) firstly as a Researcher and later as Research Coordinator of the Institute. He is a graduate of the department of History and Philosophy of Science of the National Kapodistrian University of Athens while he holds a master’s degree in Economic Development from the University of Glasgow in Scotland. He has carried out extensive research into Renewable Energy Sources and their implementation in SE Europe. He was the Coordinator of the EU funded research project Geofar. In addition, he has written many articles on energy while he has participated as a speaker at numerous conferences, seminars and workshops in Greece and abroad. Since 2016, he participates in the Board of IENE as a partner. Finally, he is currently a permanent external research associate, regularly contributing to the analysis of energy market issues.

Dr. Philip-Mark Spanidis is a Rural and Surveying Engineer and a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece, as well as a member of the Committee for Geopolitics of the Institute of Energy for Southeast Europe (IENE). He holds a MEng degree from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, an MSc in the Management of Industrial Systems from the National Technical University of Athens, and a PhD in Technology Management of Hydrocarbon Transportation Systems from the University of Piraeus. He currently serves as a Project Manager at ASPROFOS Engineering S.A., where he leads multidisciplinary projects of high complexity focused on the transportation, storage, and distribution of oil and gas. In addition to his primary responsibilities, he is actively engaged in the management of environmental engineering and safety projects within the same organization.

Dr. Philip-Mark Spanidis is also a research associate and scientific advisor in the Department of Industrial Management and Technology at the University of Piraeus and the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of West Attica. His academic interests include energy geopolitics, geoeconomic corridors, regional security, and project and risk engineering/management. His research output includes over 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals, academic books, and international conference proceedings, with a total of 230 citations. He supervises MSc theses and serves as a reviewer for academic journals in the fields of environmental science, safety engineering, industrial geopolitics, and energy systems.

Mr. Costis Stambolis who is the Executive Director of IENE, has a background in Physics and Architecture having studied at the University of London, the North East London Polytechnic (NELP) and the Architectural Association in London from where he holds a Graduate Diploma in Architecture and Energy Studies (AA Dip. Grad). He also holds a professional practice license from the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE), and a Masters Degree from the Said Business School, University of Oxford, where he studied "Strategy and Innovation”.

Costis has carried out numerous studies and projects on Renewable Energy Sources in developing countries. He has consulted widely on solar building applications for both private and institutional clients in various European countries. He has worked as a consultant and strategy advisor on natural gas, oil markets and energy security issues for large multinational companies, international organizations and governments.

Costis has lectured widely on energy issues and has organised several national, regional and international conferences, seminars and workshops. He has published several books, conference proceedings, research papers and studies on energy policy, solar energy, RES and energy markets. Among pthers he is the editor of  the "S.E. Europe Energy Outlook (2011,2017, 2022)”, which considered a basic reference on energy for SE Europe.

Since 2001 he supervises and edits daily Greece’s foremost energy sitewww.energia.gr. He is a founding member of the Institute of Energy for South East Europe (IENE), which he currently chairs. He is a member of the Energy Institute (UK), the International Passive House Association (IPHA), The Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE). Since 2018 he also serves as a full member of the Greek government’s standing committee on Energy and Climate Change (NECP).

Giorgos Stamtsis was born in 1974 in Germany and holds a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, while he has an Engineering Doctorate (Dr.-Ing.) from the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany.

He has extensive experience in the energy sector, focusing on liberalized energy markets and renewables. From 2014 to the present, he holds the position of General Manager of the Hellenic Association of Independent Power Companies (HAIPP), having served as Deputy General Manager in HAIPP during the period 2012-2014. From 2010 until 2012, he was a Senior Advisor to the Secretary General of Energy and Climate Change in the respective Greek Ministry, while he had previously worked as Commercial and Trading Manager in Endesa Hellas (joint company of Endesa SA and Mytilineos SA) during 2007-2010 and in the Energy Supplies & Trading department of Mytilineos SA (2005-2007). In 2024, Dr. Stamtsis has served as President of Develop Athens SA.

Dr. Giorgos Stamtsis is a member of VDE, of the Climate & Clean Air Coalition, of the Climate Crisis & Energy Council of Ellet and of the Technical Chamber of Greece, while he has published a series of articles and analyses in international peer-review journals and conferences, as well as in the Press. He speaks Greek, English and German

Giorgos N. Stasinos is a Dipl. Civil Engineer, a graduate of the University of Patras and works as a Freelance Engineer and Engineering Consultant. He is elected President of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE - TCG) from 2015 to the present and member of the TEE Congress from 2006 to the present. He is a member of the Steering Committee of TEE, President of the TEE – TMEDE Institute, a member of the Board of the Organization for the Promotion of Alternative Methods of Dispute Resolution (OPEMED), a member of the Economic and Social Committee of Greece (OKE) and an elected external member of the Management Council of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA - UoA). He has served as President of the National Youth Council (2004-2010) and President of the Civil Engineers Association of Greece (2012-2014).

Is a USA trained Mechanical Engineer with an MSc from the University of Evansville, Indianna, and has 25 years experience in the energy sector. Constantinos’s special interests includes cogeneration and RES and was for many years chairman of Greece’s Cogeneration Association and also member of the executive council of COGEN Europe. He has served as chairman and CEO of the Athens based Centre of Renewable Energy Sources (CRES).

Until 2002, he held positions in management, consulting, sales, and supervision of electromechanical constructions, in various companies in Thessaloniki and Athens. During the period 2002 - 2016, he worked for EPA Attiki SA (Attiki Gas Supply Company), holding successively the positions of Key Account Manager, B2B Sales Manager, Customer Technical Service Director, and Technical Director. From 2017 till mid-2019, following the successful split of EPA Attiki in 2016 in two companies for Supply and Distribution respectively, he undertook the positions of Distribution Operating (Technical and Commercial) Director and then, that of Commercial Director at the newly established EDA Attikis SA (Attiki Natural Gas Distribution Company). During the period 2019-2023, he was the Deputy CEO & Executive Member of the Board of Directors at EYDAP SA (Athens Water Supply and Sewerage Company). Then till September 2024, he was the Head of Strategy & New Gas Division of ENAON (former DEPA Infrastructure), a company of Italgas Group.

He holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, an MSc in Technical Change and Industrial Strategy from the Alliance Manchester Business School, UK, as well as an Executive Diploma in Business Administration (SHELL mini-MBA) from ALBA Graduate Business School, Greece. He has also completed the Leadership Development Program Advanced (PLDA) at Harvard Business School, USA, and the International Directors Program at INSEAD, France.

He has extensive experience in utilities and energy market, being a member of management teams since 2009. He also serves voluntarily as the Vice Chairman of the BoD of the Hellenic Association for the Cogeneration of Heat and Power (HACHP) and as a member of the BoD and the Executive Committee of the Institute of Energy for South-East Europe (IENE). He recently assumed the role of Coordinator of the "Energy Innovation Group" of IENE.

Prof. Vescoukis holds a Diploma and a Ph.D. in Engineering from the Electrical and Computer Engineering Scholl of NTUA. Professor of Software Engineering and Geoinformation at NTUA. Visiting Professor at ETH Zurich and the University of Groningen NL (2014-2015). Executive VP of the National Cadaster and Mapping Agency S.A. (2015-2017). Chief scientific officer in funded research projects focusing on state-of-the-art technologies such as Blockchain, time series data infrastructures, distributed and heterogeneous systems, environmental simulation and crisis management, smart grids, optimization and multi-dimensional analytics. Worked as a special consultant on Information Systems for public and private Greek and global entities including the Council of Europe and the World Bank. Since 2018 he works as a researcher and consultant in Energy Data Infrastructures, digital transformation and intelligent services, for operators and major participants in the Greek Energy market. Head of R&D in the development of tools for hybrid storage optimization, investment planning and policy making for RES with P2x applications, at the Hellenic Energy Competence Center, a spinoff company founded by NTUA with the participation of major research and industrial partners in the Energy sector. His professional and research interests focus on IT strategy and architectures, SaaS, spatio-temporal Energy data infrastructures and analytics, as well as optimization and forecasting problems for the Energy sector.

Nikos Vettas is the General Director of the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research - IOBE since 2013 and Professor of Economics at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) since 2003, where he has also served as the Chairman of the Economics Department and a member of the University Council. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, USA, and has been an Associate Professor at Duke University, USA, and a visiting Professor at INSEAD in France and Singapore. He serves as Associate Editor of the International Journal of Industrial Organization, a Research Fellow at CEPR, UK, and a member of the Executive Committee of the European Association for Research in Industrial Economics. He has served as an Associate Editor of the Journal of the European Economic Association and the Journal of Industrial Economics, a member of the Hellenic Competition Commission and the Economic Advisory Group for Competition Policy at the European Commission. He is a co-organizer of the annual Conference for Research on Economic Theory and Econometrics, since 2002. His research has been published in leading journals such as the International Economic Review, European Economic Review, Rand Journal of Economics, and the Review of Economic Studies. Co-editor of Beyond Austerity: Reforming the Greek Economy (MIT Press, 2017). Vice-Chairman of the Growth Plan Committee of the Hellenic Republic for the Greek Economy, 2020.

Konstantinos YAZITZOGLOU has over thirty-five years of C-level executive experience in the food, feed, and mining industry. He has been a key player in the turnaround and transformation of three Greek companies. Since 2012, he is the CEO of GEOHELLAS, an industrial minerals company exploiting the unique Greek deposits of Attapulgite in Grevena and Kozani.

He has served on several Boards of Directors, both as an executive and as a non-executive member. He has also served on the boards of not-for-profit organizations and independent authorities, both nationally and internationally.

He is the chair of the Greek Mining Enterprises Association since 2023.

He is involved as an investor and/or advisor in various innovative entrepreneurial projects, including medical technologies, food and beverage, movie production and real estate. He is the co-founder of Y-CUBE LP, a digital solutions boutique consulting firm.

Konstantinos holds an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, an MSc in Management Science (by Distinction) from Imperial College, University of London, and an advanced Certificate in Corporate Governance from INSEAD.
